There is something so special about photographing a newborn alongside their family. Tiny details, sleepy cuddles, proud parents, and siblings who are still figuring out this brand new little person who has suddenly joined the family.
Baby Dallas came into the studio for a beautiful newborn session filled with connection, cuddles, and some seriously adorable expressions. Whenever a newborn has older siblings, I always like to start with the family portion of the session first. Little ones generally have a shorter attention span than the adults, and getting those family and sibling photographs done early means everyone is relaxed and we can capture those important moments before boredom starts to creep in. Once the family photos are finished, siblings are free to head home or enjoy some time away from the studio while we focus on baby.
Dallas’s family photos were full of warmth and connection. The love and pride from his parents shone through in every image, and it was lovely to capture those first memories together as a family.
After the family portraits, it was time for Dallas’s individual newborn photographs. We moved through a range of beautiful setups, from rich earthy tones to softer neutral wraps, creating a gallery that feels timeless and full of texture. Dallas settled beautifully for many of his posed images, giving us a wonderful variety throughout the session.
By the time we reached the final setup, however, Dallas had made his feelings very clear about nude newborn photos. He was absolutely not interested in participating anymore and let everyone know exactly how he felt about it! Thankfully, I wasn’t mad in the slightest because the expressions he gave us instead were priceless. Sometimes those little personalities start shining through much earlier than expected, and those wide-eyed looks and funny faces often become parents’ favourite photographs from the entire gallery.
One of the things I love most about newborn photography is that every baby brings something completely unique to their session. Some sleep from start to finish, some want extra cuddles, and some, like Dallas, save their biggest personality for the very end. Those unexpected moments are often the ones that make a gallery truly memorable.

If you’re expecting a baby and would love to capture these fleeting first weeks, newborn sessions are best booked during pregnancy. I reserve your place based on your due date and once your baby arrives we schedule the session, usually within the first one to three weeks after birth.
I’d love to help you tell your family’s story and preserve these tiny moments before they disappear.
