There’s something so special about milestone sessions. Somewhere between the newborn days and toddlerhood, babies begin to show us little glimpses of who they are becoming. The cheeky smiles, curious expressions, tiny claps, determined crawling and the way they light up when they see their parents nearby. It’s such a fleeting season and one that changes almost overnight.
These sessions are often booked around sitting age, crawling age or first birthdays, but truly, there is no wrong time. Milestone sessions are about celebrating your baby exactly as they are right now. Their soft curls, gummy grins, wobbly sitting and all the little details you never want to forget.
What I love most about this age is how much personality starts to shine through. Babies are no longer sleepy little newborns. They interact, laugh, explore and connect. Every session feels completely unique because each little one brings their own expressions, quirks and energy into the studio.
I also love incorporating parents into milestone sessions. So often, families document the newborn stage and then wait until birthdays or family sessions later on, but this in-between season matters just as much. Your baby is changing so quickly during this first year and these moments deserve to be remembered too. Including a few simple parent photos creates beautiful memories of connection and closeness that your child will treasure one day.
The studio is kept relaxed and baby led, allowing plenty of time for cuddles, play and little breaks if needed. Simple timeless setups keep the focus on your baby and the connection you share together. Neutral tones, natural textures and soft light help create images that feel warm, classic and full of emotion.

Milestone sessions are a beautiful way to pause for just a moment during a year that moves far too quickly. Before the crawling turns to running and the baby giggles turn into conversations, these photos hold onto the little details that are so easy to forget with time.
If you’ve been thinking about documenting this season with your baby, this is your reminder not to miss it. These moments may feel ordinary now, but one day they will mean everything.
